Re: Jornada 21 - segunda división

Las Palmas have officially announced the signing of Granada striker Alfredo Ortuño, who heads to the Canary Islands club on loan for the remainder of the season and with the possibility of a permanent move.

It’s a hive of activity at Nuevo Los Cármenes today, with Granada making numerous changes both to their coaching staff and their squad. With news emerging that manager Joaquín Caparrós set to be sacked, there’s also been the first official announcement of the day from the club, that they’ve signed young Valencia winger Robert Ibáñez on loan for the rest of the season.

As the club shakes things up to improve their fortunes in the Primera, along with new arrivals, there must also be departures. The first of the latter is 23-year-old striker Alfredo Ortuño, following an official announcement from Segunda leaders Las Palmas, that they have secured his services from Granada on loan, as they chase promotion to the Spanish top-flight.

Ortuño was retained in the Granada first-team squad this season, but has made just 2 starts out of 5 appearances in La Liga, plus 1 start and 1 substitute appearance in the Copa del Rey. Following his move to Granada in the January transfer window of 2014 from La Hoya Lorca, he was immediately loaned out to Girona, also in the Segunda, where he enjoyed a run of 20 games and with a return of 9 goals.

Clearly he will be hoping that his time in the Canary Islands, will bring more playing opportunities and a chance to rediscover his form in front of goal. Good form could indeed earn him a permanent switch, with Las Palmas having also negotiated the inclusion of an option to buy clause, for an as yet undisclosed sum.
