Alberto Rivera has moved to Sporting Gijon. The move was made official on Sporting's website. One hell of a professional and a great worker. Good luck with him in the future. He moved on a free-transfers as his contract had ran out.

      Official transfers so far.

The latest rumors put the defenses Carlos Garcia (UD Almería) and N. Morris (Recreativo Huelva) within the orbit of Real Betis. It also appears that Betis to be still negotiating with the midfielder Iriney (UD Almeria).

          Some tidbits...

Zamora, Real Betis B centre-back, who played against Atletico Madrid last season or the season before, anyway, his contract is up and he has signed for Segunda side Salamanca. Betis are confirmed to play in the XLV Trofeo Colombino this summer against, so far, Recreativo and Zaragoza. I don't know whether the trophy is cool or ridiculous or a perfect blend of both. Eliseu has opted to join Lazio, even though Betis came in with late bid and a bigger contract. Just goes to show that it wasn't all about the money for him. Fair dues, and good luck to him with Lazio. Carlos Garcia, centre-back of Almeria, is just about to join Real Betis on a loan deal which we could make permanent for €2,000,000 next summer. Here are images of him heading in for his medical...

The Colombino is as Trofeo Teresa Herrera (Coruña) or Carranza (Cadiz): a summer competition, no more, no less. I think that is ideal for testing system and players (and to confront one of our rival for the next season: Recreativo of Huelva).

Th trophy is a "carabela". It´s kewl.

Colombino is a classic summer competition organised by the oldest team in Spain, Recreativo de Huelva, so taking part in it should be a honour and a good chance to see our team in summer.
However, when the budget for the trophy is low and therefore the quality of the teams playing is not very high, some people take the piss and call the trophy the Pirate Ship by Playmobil
