Argentine side, Vélez Sarsfield, have reportedly put in a bid of $2 million for Real Betis striker Mariano Pavone, but only for half-ownership.
Mariano Pavone looks as though he could be on his way out of Real Betis this winter, with Vélez Sarsfield looking like the favoured destination today.
Marca reports that Argentine side have put in a bid of $2 million dollars for half-ownership of Pavone, and officials from the club will be travelling to Sevilla to meet with Real Betis in the next few days.
Vélez are by no means the first team to be interested in signing the striker, with Atalanta reportedly one of the sides willing to make a good offer, but they look like they could be the closest yet, after the Italian side failed in their bid.
The stumbling block for any deal is believed to be the price, with Betis possibly wanting as much as they paid for the player, which is slightly more than €5 million.
Los Verdiblancos coach, Paco Chaparro, is believed to be fine with a possible move, despite the fact that it would leave his forward line looking dangerously thin. With José Mari already gone, and Edu a long-term injury, Pavone is one of the two real strikers that the coach has left, along with Sergio García.
However, Hugo Issa, the agent of the player, confirmed today that the bid has been made, and that they are now waiting.
"It is certain that Vélez want him, and the ball is now in the court of Betis," he declared.
