Elche are reportedly preparing a bid for Catalan midfielder, Joan Verdu after the 31-year-old chose to opt out of his contract following the verdiblanco’s relegation.
According to Diario Franjiverde, Elche has Verdu on their list of possible transfer targets following the season, but we waiting for new sporting director, Victor Otra and were waiting on Verdu himself to use his relegation clause and 0pt-out of his deal.
Now that both of those things have happened, Elche are preparing to present the free agent with an offer and convince him to join manager Fran Escriba at Elche.
Verdu is coming off a lacklustre first season at Betis, where he made 30 appearances (20 in La Liga, 7 in the Europa League and 3 in the Copa del Rey), where he scored three goals and 2 assists in 2,064 minutes played.
Verdu joined a host of other issues the spelled the end for Betis but Elche are hoping they can return the former Espanyol captain to his previous form and continue their progression in La Liga.
