It's another European week, which means that Pepe Mel and his players are flying to Croatia tomorrow ahead of Thursday's clash with arguably Group I's weakest team, HNK Rijeka. The squad comprises: Andersen, Sara, Álex Lázaro (a Betis B goalkeeper), Nacho, Steinhöfer, Dídac, Juanfran, Jordi, Amaya, Perquis, Lolo, Xavi, Nono, Nosa, Verdú, Salva, Cedrick, Ignacio Abeledo (a young midfielder), Braian and Molina.
You'll remember that before the last game against Lyon, Betis's first in Europe for eight years, an enormous tifo was unfurled from the top tier of Gol Norte in honour of the occasion. If you've ever wondered how one makes a banner the size of a tennis court, the answer is contained in this video at Betisweb (whose peña members are responsible for nearly all the similar massive images you see before big games). It seems it takes ingenuity, a lot of paint and hours and hours of sheer hard work.
Back to Europe - Forever Betis
