0-2 pierde el Córdoba contra el Málaga. Sería otro partido más sin conocer la victoria (8ª jornada), desde luego la cosa pinta mal a día de hoy, aunque queda mucha liga y tiempo para reaccionar.

Re: Jornada 8 - primera division

late equaliser from Xisco prevented Jagoba Arrasate’s Real Sociedad from picking up a vital three points in Córdoba tonight, while the teams remain just a point apart at the foot of the Primera table.

It was a rather subdued opening in Córdoba, in a strange clash of managerial situations. Miroslav Djukić was getting his Córdoba reign underway, while his opposite number Jagoba Arrasate, was looking to try and take a few steps out of the limelight with a much-needed win. It all made for a cautious encounter in the preliminary stages, with both teams tentatively trying to assert themselves in the game, while struggling to establish any real dominance.

The opening goal of the game was very predictable of the early feel of the game. It came from a Sergio Canales free kick out wide on Córdoba’s left hand side, after Finnbogason had been halted in his tracks illegally. The 23-year-old whipped in a cross towards the front post, but in the scrappy nature of the game, it somehow trickled all the way through to the back post – where a delighted Iñigo Martínez scrambled home the opener unopposed. It wasn’t pretty, but Jagoba Arrasate won’t have been grumbling.

Córdoba have only scored five goals this season, and it wasn’t difficult to see why in Miroslav Djukić’s first game at the helm. Zubikarai in the Real Sociedad goal wasn’t called into any genuine action at all in the first half, despite the home team coming back into the game a bit more following Martínez’s 22nd minute goal. When Fede Cartabia’s influence is limited, Córdoba have struggled to establish much attacking prowess, and that appeared to be the case once again in the first forty five. Jagoba Arrasate’s team were hardly setting the world alight at the other end, but even a defence as shaky as theirs in recent weeks, wasn’t experiencing too much trouble in preventing the home side to mere scraps.

The second half remained a game of staggeringly few chances. It wasn’t until the hour mark that either side really found any successful incision. Chory Castro had a shot go just wide of Juan Carlos’s post with half an hour to go, but that was about as close as the away team got to doubling their lead.

Córdoba should have been level just moments later though, with half time substitute Xisco missing from almost impossible range. After some nice intriciate play out wide by the home side, Fidel crossed across the face of goal for Xisco who had escaped Iñigo Martínez’s clutch and looked set to tap home. However, the one time Newcastle United striker skewed his conversion wide from all of two yards. Córdoba must have been thinking they’d never score with chances like that being passed up, but Djukić’s side continued to press, and would get their rewards sooner rather than later.

Just as he’s been the difference maker in previous weeks for Córdoba, Fede Cartabia came up with the goods again to salvage a point for the new boys. In the 87th minute with the clock ticking, his cross-cum-shot from out on the left fizzed back off Zubikarai’s far post, but fortunately this time, Xisco was there to deflect it in from point blank range with his torso. Again, it was another awfully scrappy goal, but Djukić was another man who wouldn’t be grumbling too much.

It was a well earned second half point for the new boss, but for his opposite number, the misery continues. The draw in Córdoba tonight means that Real Sociedad haven’t won a league game since August, and while a loss may have seen him handed his walking papers, it remains to be seen whether a solitary point will save him from such fate either.

Re: Jornada 8 - primera division

Granada took an early lead at Ipurua through right-back Allan Nyom, but as the game progressed, Eibar fought back and Bóveda fired them back on level terms with a great strike, minutes before half-time. The two sides traded blows in the second half, but neither could find the killer touch to make the difference, settling for a share of the spoils.

Granada took the initiative in the opening moments, grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and pressuring Eibar into conceding two quick corners. Whilst the visitors couldn’t make the most of them, in the 7th minute they did force themselves into the lead. A move down the right and ghosting in at the far post, right-back Nyom unmarked and into the area with a clinical finish.

The home side looked to be struggling as Granada continued to pressure, winning more corners, but still unable to make the most of them as Eibar held firm inside their area. As the game progressed however, the main protagonist was the man in the middle, Mateu Lahoz. Lots of stoppages for fouls and free-kicks affecting the rhythm of play.

Eibar did get the ball into the back of the net from their first clear opportunity in the 23rd minute, but after Piovaccari had bundled into Granada keeper Roberto with an aerial challenge, it was ruled out by the referee, much to the dismay of the Italian striker.

Play switched from end to end, still with plenty of stoppages from the referee, but Eibar were starting to press forward more, hunting an equaliser. Whilst Granada managed to resist the attacking forays from the home side, they were eventually undone in the 37th minute. A deep ball from midfield into the area, Piovaccari with the knock-down and striding forward just outside the area, Bóveda smashed a rocket of a shot into the top left corner. Roberto at full stretch, but no chance to save it.

Into the final moments of the half, chances at both ends. Córdoba showing his strength to hold off a marker, then slipping the ball out to strike partner Success. The Nigerian struck low and well, but it clipped an Eibar defender and deflected just wide. At the other end, the home side finished the first period with another good opening, Piovaccari involved once more. He found space to shoot, but just a fraction offside as the flag raised on the far touchline.

Eibar came out from the break and could have taken the lead in the 47th minute. Saúl Berjón feeding the ball inside the Granada area, their defence split wide open and Piovaccari there to strike, but Murillo there to make a crucial goal-line clearance. Moments later, another opportunity for the home side. Bóveda with a dangerous cross, Arruabarrena in for the challenge, but once more, Murillo with a timely block for the visitors.

After surviving that pressure, Granada had a good opportunity in the 55th minute. Piti showing good skill, dribbling well past two markers, but just outside the area with his strike at goal, the shot rose well over the crossbar. At the other end just after the hour mark, Eibar close once more. Roberto punching clear a deep free-kick into the area, with Capa firing just wide from the edge of the area.

Caparrós made his first change for Granada in the 65th minute. A straight swap in attack with El Arabi on for Success. Having taken a knock moments earlier, Eibar striker Piovaccari was then replaced by Manu Del Moral.

Eibar had looked the more likely to get something going forward for much of the second period, but Granada had managed to hold tight. The visitors probed with long balls forward themselves, but met with the same resistance from the home defence.

Garitano made his second change in the 76th minute, sending on Dani Nieto for Saúl Berjón. Caparrós followed suit in the 82nd minute with another straight swap, Ortuño on for Córdoba. Last throw of the dice for both managers in the 85th minute, with Eibar replacing Arruabarrena for Lekic, whilst Granada replaced Sissoko with Mainz.

Fran Rico dipped in a free-kick from midway into the Eibar half in the 88th minute, amidst the bodies Mainz rose to head the ball into the back of the net, but that was disallowed. One of the Granada players had fouled goalkeeper Irureta in the challenge. In the final moments both sides traded attacks, but as tamely as they had for much of the game, lacking precision in the final third. Ultimately at the final whistle, points shared a fair outcome.
