Levante are still looking for ways to strengthen the squad before the new seasons kicks off and, according to reports in Chile, the club has begun to discuss the possibility of signing Cristopher Toselli of Universidad Catolica.

Levante manager Jose Luis Mendilibar is far from finished with the current summer transfer window as the club is still looking for ways to strengthen the squad before the new campaign finally kicks off.

With goalkeeper Keylor Navas expected to join Real Madrid very soon, Levante are hot in pursuit of a new player to man the posts, and recent rumors claim they may have already pin-pointed their replacement.

According to Chilean paper La Tercera, Levante are interested in making a move for Universidad Catolica keeper, Cristopher Toselli, who is said to be interested in making the move to Europe.

Toselli, 26, would be available for only €1 million dollars which is his buy-out clause, though Levante would like to sign the keeper for a smaller price.

In addition, it is believed that Levante could face competition for the Chilean, with Getafe also rumoured to be tracking the keeper. He was also a target for Real Sociedad, at the recommendation of Claudio Bravo, following his departure to Barcelona this summer, but the Basque club have since signed Gerónimo Rulli.

Atletico Madrid is reportedly close to finalising the €25 million transfer of Real Sociedad striker, Antoine Griezmann in the coming hours.

Following reports on Friday that Atletico Madrid were leading the chase to sign the French international, it now appears that Los Colchoneros are nearing a deal for the 23-year-old goal-scorer.

According to Spanish sports daily, AS, Atletico Madrid are in advanced talks to sign the player, who feels that Diego Simeone’s side are offering him the best possible chance for success; Champions League football and consistent starting minutes in a team that has won six trophies over the past several years.

Real Sociedad were holding firm on Griezmann’s €30 million release clause, but talks have progressed and Atleti have talked the price down to €25 million.

Diego Simeone sees Griezmann as the perfect compliment to Mario Mandzukic and a perfect facilitator for Arda Turan and Koke.

Tottenham and PSG has expressed interest in the player over recent weeks, but Spurs cannot offer the Champions League, while PSG are unable to make the investment due to their Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Villarreal are reportedly in talks with Argentine side Racing Club, with a view to making a formal bid for talented young forward Luciano Vietto, although Valencia could activate an agreement with his club, to lure the young player to the Mestalla instead.

Reports in Argentina have already revealed that Villarreal are keen to move for 20-year-old forward, Luciano Vietto, who has made excellent progress at Racing Club de Avellaneda, since bursting into their first-team squad.

Whilst no formal bid has yet been made for the player by Villarreal, talks are ongoing. There may however be a fly in the ointment for the Yellow Submarine, that could pose a problem for their move.

According to SuperDeporte, when Valencia secured the capture of another young Argentine sensation, Rodrigo De Paul, they also took steps to secure an advantage over any competitors, when it came to future bids for Luciano Vietto, who had also caught their attention.

The asking price earlier this year was said to be around €3 million, but Valencia couldn’t afford to secure both De Paul and Vietto at the same time, so completed the move for the former and the latter was left pending.

It is suggested that should Villarreal make a formal offer to Racing Club, Valencia will have a 48-hour window of opportunity to activate their first option.

Valencia general manager Francisco Rufete, must now convince prospective new owner, Peter Lim, to back the move financially, or risk missing out on a very promising talent.

Bayern Munich manager, Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on bringing his former Barcelona shot stopper, Victor Valdes to Bavaria after the 32-year-old’s pre-contract with AS Monaco fell through due to his continued recovery from ACL surgery.

After Guardiola announced last week that his side is in need of another goalkeeper before the season begins and the loss of Levante’s Keylor Navas to Real Madrid, Guardiola has turned his sites to one the most trusted players in his coaching career.

Guardiola feels that Tom Starke is not at the level required to push Manuel Neuer and keep the German international at the top of his game and after sounding out Valdes last January, before learning that the Spanish international had signed a pre-contract with AS Monaco, now seems like the perfect time to sign Valdes, who has already spent a good portion of his recovery in Germany.

Valdes is still recovering and is three months from being at full fitness, but would have Bayern’s medical staff at his disposal, as well as Bayern’s physiotherapist, Lorenzo Buenaventura, who has worked with Valdes at Barcelona from 2008 to 2012.

Valencia and Villarreal are locked in a battle for Racing Club forward, Luciano Vietto, but despite Valencia having the first option, the 20-year-old only wants a move to El Madrigal.

In an interview with El Periódico Mediterráneo, Vietto’s agent Julio Pigliacampo revealed that the Argentine only has eyes for Villarreal.

“[Vietto] wants to play for Villarreal. Villarreal has been following him for years and they asked about him before but they couldn’t finalise a deal up until now. He has everything needed to succeed in Europe. I’m certain that he will not disappoint his next club.”

According to SuperDeporte, when Valencia secured the capture of another young Argentine sensation, Rodrigo De Paul, they also took steps to secure an advantage over any competitors, when it came to future bids for Luciano Vietto, who had also caught their attention.

Zenit Saint Petersburg are set to make an offer that will test the resolve of Sevilla, when it comes to retaining their Colombian striker, Carlos Bacca.

Having scored 21 goals in just his first campaign with Sevilla last season, whilst helping the side to Europa League triumph, Carlos Bacca has quickly become an object of desire for a number of clubs throughout the continent.

Everton in the English Premier League have regularly been linked, whilst Inter Milan made a €14 million offer recently, which was rejected by Sevilla as insufficient, given the Italians wanted to pay €2 million for Bacca to join them initially on loan, then €12 million at the end of the season.

Sevilla know they have a prized asset on their books and whilst there’s no desperate need to sell players, they’re open to an offer that would benefit themselves and the player, economically. Indeed, an offer that’s too good to refuse.

Such an offer is about to arrive from Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg, according to Estadio Deportivo, who believe the wealthy club that are backed by energy giants Gazprom, are keen to make a blockbuster bid.

Whilst it’s not expected to match the €30 million release clause Bacca has in his contract, it is likely to exceed €20 million and that could tempt Sevilla into cashing in on the Colombian striker. There has also apparently already been initial dialogue between the clubs and representatives of the player.

27-year-old Bacca is currently still on extended leave with his family, following his participation at the World Cup, though he’s due to link up with the rest of the Sevilla squad on 3rd August. That is, if his club opt to reject any bids less than his clause valuation in the meantime.

Almería have announced the arrival of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, who joins on loan for the 2014-2015 season from Atlético Madrid.

In what is now their ninth signing of the summer transfer window, Almería have officially announced the capture of 21-year-old midfielder Thomas Teye Partey, on loan from Atlético Madrid for the upcoming season in La Liga.

Almería had been in somewhat lengthy discussions about securing the services of the player, during the last few weeks, but have now finally secured his move.

The club had also been hoping to complete one or two more signings over the weekend, ahead of their trip to Thailand, as part of the LFP World Challenge Tour. As they set off from Barajas airport in Madrid later on Sunday, the Ghanaian player will link up with the Almería squad, as they fly to the Asian country.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Thomas impressed the coaching staff at Atlético Madrid following his arrival and powerful performances with their B team. Last season to aid his development, he was loaned to Segunda side Mallorca, where he made 37 appearances and scored 5 goals.

Argentine attacking midfielder Luis Fariña has joined La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña, on a season-long loan from Portuguese outfit, Benfica.

On Sunday, Deportivo La Coruña officially announced that pending his medical on Monday morning, they have agreed the signing of 23-year-old Luis Fariña from Benfica, who will join them for the 2014-2015 campaign on loan.

Yet to make a first-team appearance with the Portuguese side, Fariña joined Benfica last summer from Racing Club of Argentina, penning a five-year deal. He was then loaned out to Baniyas SC in the UAE Arabian Gulf League last season, as they finished mid-table.

Fariña began pre-season training with Benfica, amidst speculation that he would be a ready-made replacement for Enzo Pérez, who has been linked with moves to a variety of clubs, including Valencia.

Elche have confirmed the signing of Jonathas de Jesús, with the Brazilian striker set to pass his medical and will be officially presented on Tuesday.

25-year-old Jonathas de Jesús became the latest summer recruit at Elche on Sunday, after the club announced his move will be finalised, once he’s passed his customary medical.

Standing at 6’3″ (1.90m), Elche now have a tall and powerful target-man, who can offer them a strong presence in the air, in and around the box. Last season Jonathas helped Serie B side Latina to the promotion play-off finals, scoring 15 goals in 37 games.

Jonathas started his career with Cruzeiro in his native country, before first heading to Europe with Dutch side, AZ Alkmaar. Following a season and a half in the Netherlands, he headed to Italy with Brescia, but couldn’t help them avoid relegation from the top-flight. He did however strike 16 goals in Serie B for them the following season, before returning to the top-flight with spells at Pescara and Torino during the 2012-2013 season.

Riki signed for Granada last summer on a free transfer from Deportivo La Coruña, but has been told he’s surplus to requirements, with the club looking to help facilitate a move elsewhere for the player.

33-year-old Riki is not likely to feature in the plans of Joaquín Caparrós at Granada this season and as such, the player and his agent were informed that alternative options should be sought.

According to the Granadino edition of Ideal.es, Riki had been due to hold talks with Rayo Vallecano sporting director Felipe Miñambres last Wednesday, but that meeting didn’t eventually take place.

Riki is currently earning over €1 million a season with Granada, therefore it’s difficult to see Rayo matching that, although the player being originally from Madrid, may yet work in their favour, if talks eventually proceed.

Meanwhile, interest from Recreativo de Huelva manager, José Luis Oltra, who managed Riki at Deportivo La Coruña, is unlikely to reach a successful outcome, given they wouldn’t be able to afford his salary in the Segunda.

With options seemingly limited for the player in La Liga, there has also been an approach from Cypriot side, APOEL, although media reports there suggest that negotiations aren’t progressing as well as might be hoped, after Riki’s agent made little headway regarding the economic aspect of a potential deal for his client.

For now, Riki remains a part of the Granada squad in pre-season. At this stage however, his days at the club are numbered.
