Brazilian midfielder Luis Francisco Grando, also known as Chico, could be on his way out of Palmeiras in the summer transfer window as Italian champions AC Milan have shown an interest in signing him, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The Serie A powerhouse are in the market for a new midfielder because of the imminent departure of Andrea Pirlo, who announced he will leave the Scudetto holders at the end of the season, and they consider the 24-year-old to be the perfect replacement for the Italian international.
Chico started his professional career with Atletico Paranaense before joining Palmeiras in January 2011. He has since developed into a key player at his new club, and has been labelled 'the new Emerson' because of his tactical awareness.
Fiorentina and Roma have also been linked with a move for the player, but Milan now appear to be in pole position to lure him to San Siro.
His current contract runs until December 2012, but Palmeiras could well decide to cash in on him this summer.
