On November 24, 1929, the Betis Frontón was inaugurated, a building annexed to the Campo del Patronato and where Basque pelota competitions were held. An enclosure that is in its beginnings linked to Real Betis Balompié.

On November 24, 1926, the Permanent Commission of the Iberian-American Exhibition determined the construction of a Stadium for the sporting activities that were to be held during the 1929 contest. The decision was that it be built with a capacity for 25,000 spectators, although it has not yet been determined with certainty in which specific area it was going to be built. This decision is the origin of the future Stadium of the Ibero-American Exposition, which would later lead to the Heliópolis stadium, the Real Betis Balompié venue.
