I have to say, I believe those who bombard the Betis players training with insults, and eggs, and hostility are scum. They are not Betis fans, they are no better than Sevilla fans. With three games remaining, two at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, the fans have a say in whether Betis stay up this year. Another year passes with failure, but keep all that criticism for the summer months when something can change. Right now the players need every single fan to be behind them. If at half-time against Almeria you are losing 0-2, then you need to cheer even louder. The negativity towards the players is sending them to Segunda. It's obvious. They need hundreds of people at training to be singing "MUSCHO BETIS!", not to be booing or hurling insults. They need support. They need belief. They need optimism. If you tell the players they aren't good enough, and that they're not being supported, then you'll be watching Real Betis in Segunda next season. You don't want that and they don't want that. This club needs an overhaul in terms of mentality.

Scum? they're people who love Betis above many other things and they are fed up with those so called "professional players" who just walk around the field, doing something that seems footbal but it isn't.
These player don't sacrifice, they don't make any effort, they deserve no support.
We've been living this nightmare for 5 years, we are tired of being tired, they just take the money and whine about their hard job: 2 hours and training and 22 hours of doing nothing and whining about the supporters.

Maybe it's just my mentality, but you support your club through thick and thin. When you purposely go out of your way to attack the players and systematically ruin their confidence, then you are not a fan of Real Betis. You are acting against the club, not for it.
The players effort against Athletic, albeit a poor performance, was very, very good (after all, we should have won maybe 1-4), but there is just too much pressure put on the players and club to succeed. It can't turn out well.
How can you demand Betis to be a great club and to perform brilliantly when we have one of the single worst defences in the league, as well as a terrible central midfield? Aurelio is the only decent player in this very important area. Rivera, Capi, Juande, Arzu - all aren't good enough and even Emana is tactically inept and erratic (we should cash in on him in the summer). There is zero ability to control games, and then when the opposition gets hold of the game, they can easily score because Melli, Juanito, Rivas, Arzu, are just terrible - aswell as Casto who has been in goal for half the season. You have to be realistic. Sure, up front we have exceptional talent, but everywhere else we're lacking, and so the fans should understand what to expect of Betis. I'm not surprised to see we're struggling again. That mentality is seeping its way through the club and we need a strong manager to come in and transform this clubs whole ideology.

Of course we always have our right of not agreeing with something (like with how the president is managing the club or how the players do not make an effort to do their best) and we can say it at loud, but I do not think that being violent is the way. This is going to make potential future players not to be willing to sign for our team any more.

Originalmente publicado por miocss Ver MensajeI agree with you. You have to be loyal to your team. That has always been one of the things that have make us unique as fans. Which makes this situation even worse is that we are talking about violent incidents and this is not going to give a very good image of the Real Betis Balompie fans.

JoaquinIreland, I can't agree more with you.
If there's one thing I love of football as played in the British isles is the loyalty of the fans, the passion supporters have for their teams even though the players are rubbish and are playing badly.
We used to be like that: "Viva er Beti manque pierda!!" used to be our motto, as you know ("Viva Betis even in defeat!!"). But since Lopera's good years, and the new "Mucho betis", which I loved as everybody else, we have had problems to come to terms with defeat and failure. And it's a shame, because that unique spirit of being there even in defeat has been completely lost. New generations haven't known that, or have forgotten about it.
I remember when Betis was relegated after a play off against Tenerife, year 89, or so. I was a kid. In the first leg, we lost in Tenerife 4-0. In the second leg match at home, the crowd didn't stop supporting the team. We really thought we would make it. And our squad that year wasn't really good. At the end of the match, we only scored a goal or two, I don't remember, but I still gooseflesh every time I remember that, after the final whistle, the whole stadium were shouting "Beeeetis, Beeetis, Beeetis", with the team already in Segunda División.
Those days are gone, mate. And now that's one of the reasons why I gave up going to Betis stadium, because it's hard to support a team that doesn't exist anymore.
P.S. I know you're Irish, but I don't know Irish football, so that's why I mention the British isles football, which I know better.
cheers mate
