So, that's three very, very important points for us. I thought the performance in terms of decisive and quality football was poor at best, but we took our chances and we were superb in defence. I mean, there was a level of intensity to our defensive play tonight that was completely missing in the last few months. Lots of aggression, good reading of the ball and movement of players, too. I thought the sending off of Arzu was harsh, especially as I was certain he'd won the ball on both occasions.
Ricardo - 7 - Very competent as per usual. Good in the air and made a great save late in the game.
Nelson - 7 - Played relatively well in defence, but didn't contribute anything to our attack except for a late surge.
Arzu - 6 - I thought he played well and punish him slightly as regards to the rating because he saw red.
Juanito - 8 - Great stuff. It'd be a shame if we lost him on a free-transfer this summer, but if he can leave us with performances like that then I won't be too angry.
Monzon - 5 - His passing was atrocious and his defending was questionable. He's played a lot better than this.
Aurelio - 8 - What a signing. What a brilliant signing.
Capi - 6 - I give out about him constantly, but it is good to have him back in the side. Tired in the second half as his performance deteriorated, but a really good first half.
Edú - 6 - Didn't really get into the game. I prefer him on the left, or on the right when a left-winger is willing to put in consistent crosses - like Caffa.
Emana - 9 - One superb goal, one messy goal, and two superb through balls. One to put Oliveira through for a chance he missed and the other to put the same Brazilian through which led to Sporting's goalkeeper being sent off.
Gonzalez - 6 - I don't think he played well, but his attitude and work-rate was second to none.
Oliveira - 7 - Missed a fantastic chance to score, but bagged himself a couple of assists. Never stopped working for his side either.
Not a hostile note by any means, but Sporting are ridiculously over-physical and every player dives with even the slightest hint of contact. It was a bit embarrassing tonight.
