The two parties have agreed to part ways and terminate the forward's contract.
Jose Mari signed with Real Betis in 2007 after four years at Villarreal and other spells at Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Sevilla in his twelve-year career.

However he has made just sixteen appearance in his time in Seville and managed just one goal during that span.

As a result, the Andalusian club and the player himself had taken the mutual decision to terminate his contract despite still having eighteen months to run on the current deal.

Never Prolific

Indeed the 30-year-old has never been prolific in any stage of his career and despite big moves to Milan and Villarreal he struggled to find his goalscoring touch with any club.

Despite making 113 appearance for El Submarinos Amarillos he managed just 15 goals at El Madrigal before his move to the Verdiblancos.

In Italy too with AC Milan he only made 52 appearance in an injury-hit three seasons at the San Siro, scoring just five times.

However, with his experience in the Primera Division we will not doubt be a target for some of the sides battling relegation, as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

I think that in a competition between Jose Mari and Pavone the result would be nil-nil...

The ex-Betis, Milan and Villarreal forward has signed for Gimnàstic de Tarragona according to Marca. Good luck to him. I thought he worked really, really hard whenever he played for Betis and hopefully it works out for him at Nastic.
