Following an inconsistent start to the new season Betis must improve in all competitions in the New Year, according to their influential central defender Juanito.
Juanito has revealed that he thinks Real Betis can move up the league and reach the Copa del Rey semi-final even if they have trouble bolstering the squad in January.
The Andalucian outfit's defender was linked with a move to Newcastle United next month, but he is only thinking about what he can achieve with his current team.
Betis are in 13th place in the league and only five points above the drop zone, but Juanito thinks that the position is false and things have to improve.
"Right now there is definitely uncertainty which can happen, but we have faith in our ability to reach the semi-finals in the cup and move up the league table," he told the club's official website.
"After a bad month all we can do is react well. We have a team that is capable of achieving more than we have done."
Betis have been linked with players in the January transfer window, but Juanito recognised that it may not be easy to attract the right ones mid-season.
"It is always necessary to strengthen the team, but doing it in the winter window is difficult," he continued.
Reflecting on his ongoing wait to pen a new contract at Betis, Juanito admitted that nothing has been decided and that negotiations are set to continue.
"There has been no news, nothing has happened and for the time being I will focus on playing for Real Betis until the end of the season," he added.
