Next stop on the (apparent) road to nowhere: home v Barcelona B, tonight at 6pm. Can Betis recover the scintillating form of the first half in Pamplona last week - and make it count this time? Or will it be more of the same stodgy rubbish we've been served up for the rest of the time? We'll find out later.

        Real Betis 1-0 Barcelona B.

Not an easy game to evaluate this one, as although Betis played pretty well in patches - particularly during the first half - they endedup hanging on. If it hadn't been for a kind referee, plus one or two last-ditch tackles, they might not have secured the three points.
The goal came shortly after half-time, when Rubén Castro put the finishing touches to nice work from Kadir and Rennella. And although the latter is emerging as a real threat upfront, the Betis man of the match was arguably 18-year-old midfielder Dani Ceballos, who is beginning to add touches of real class to his impressive work rate. Barcelona B will argue that they might have had a penalty lateon, but what they really needed was a decent forward to get on the end of some sensational play from 18-year-old right-winger Adama (remember that name).
And what do we think of Julio Velázquez now? Well, put it this way: when the referee sent him to the stands shortly before half-time,his decision was wildly applauded by Béticos, who sent their coach on his way with choruses of "Velázquez vete ya" and "Pepe Mel, Pepe Mel, Pepe Mel".

Betis: Adán; Molinero (Perquis, m. 66), Bruno, Jordi, Álex Martínez (Cejudo, m. 75); Matilla, Ndiaye, Kadir, Dani Ceballos; Rubén Castro, Rennella (Pacheco, m. 85).

        Goal: 1-0, m. 49: Rubén Castro.

        Attendance: 27,487
