The most important game of the season so far, I think we can safely say, kicks off in a couple of hours With the top NINE teams going into the weekend within two points of each other, the fact that Las Palmas were on top of the pile doesn't really mean all that much, but beating them would still provide a huge confidence boost for your 2014/15 Real Betis. And if we could do it while stringing some passes together - hell, TWO would be a start - then so much the better.
Alfred N'Diaye is away with Senegal, but promising left-back Alex Martínez is back in the squad after several weeks out injured. The Las Palmas line-up will include a number of ex-Béticos, including long-serving goalkeeper Casto and left-winger Momo, plus young Argentinian striker Sergio Araujo, who's in even hotter form than Rubén Castro.

Is it possible to play worse and still not lose? Probably not. Going forward at least, Betis were completely inept, with no rhythm, composure or creativity and they didn't really deserve a point. Damien Perquis was sent off by the fussy referee after 75 mins for two yellow cards, so the home side ended up hanging on and by the final whistle large sections of the crowd were singing "Velázquez vete ya!" (Velázquez go now). Unless his side find some fluency in the next couple of weeks, the young coach may well be on his way.
