Real Betis president Manuel Domínguez Platas has suggested that the club are still waiting, when it comes to the future of striker Rubén Castro, whilst assuring that he sees no possibility of goalkeeper Antonio Adán leaving.
Amongst a variety of topics addressed by Real Betis president, Manuel Domínguez Platas, during a press conference on Tuesday, were preparations ahead of the 2014-2015 season in the Segunda, along with the futures of several players.
One of the key players journalists were keen to gather more information about, was striker Rubén Castro and whether he’ll remain, or leave as has been speculated. Platas simply explained that until the player has met with the new manager, nothing has yet been decided.
“He has a contract with us and we want him to stay. Last week I had lunch with his agent. In principal, we’re waiting for him to start pre-season and speak with the manager. That’s what his agent told me. Margarita (Castro’s agent) has said that until he speaks with the manager, there’s little more he can say. We can make certain exceptions, but not spectacular ones. We want to say on the same line regarding contract renewals and not create anything separate.”
Over the future of goalkeeper Antonio Adán however, there was little doubt at all, with Platas convinced that the 27-year-old will see out his contract.
“As far as I’m concerned he’s our goalkeeper next season and the next after that. He’s going to be a very important player within the squad. I know that he’s very comfortable with us. If someone comes in and pays his clause value, that will leave us without our main keeper, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. He’s delighted with the project and very committed.”
Rubén Castro has been linked as an option for a number of Primera clubs this summer, whilst also reportedly considering offers from outside Spain. Adán meanwhile, has also been the subject of speculation, with reports that Real Sociedad are showing an interest.
