Las Palmas manager, Sergio Lobera was recently sacked after his Segunda side failed to earn automatic promotion to the Primera and despite the fact that they could still gain promotion through the playoffs, the timing of his sacking came as a shock.
However, despite Lobera’s shock and disappointment, UD Las Palmas’ radio reported that Lobera has been in negotiations for several weeks to take over at Betis, but has been stalling in order to find out the fate of Las Palmas, as he’d obviously chose to remain with the Primera Division side over the recently demoted Betis side.
The report goes on to add that the club didn’t feel Lobera had his mind on the task at hand, but was rather focused on joining Betis and after failing to gain automatic promotion, Las Palmas took it upon themselves to eliminate distraction.
Yet, with the ball in their court, Betis have not decided to hire Lobera for the job and have been in negotiations with former Valladolid and Osasuna manager, Jose Luis Mendilibar for the seat left vacant by Gabriel Calderon.
