Real Betis technical secretary, Alexis Trujillo has confirmed that Catalan midfielder, Joan Verdú has activated the ‘relegation clause’ in his contract, which allows him to leave should the club be relegated as they have this season, and has indeed terminated is contract, thus becoming a free agent.
In an interview with Radio Sevilla, Trujillo spoke briefly about Verdu, simply stating that “Verdu has terminated his contract and he’s left,” before discussing the contract extension negotiations with other players such as Amaya and Ruben Castro.
“I spoke with Amaya (whose contract ends 30th June) and I will have another meeting with him to discuss his renewal. Pedro (youth team goalkeeper) has renewed and all of the technical speaks of him as the player of the future. Adan has proven to be the best.”
Trujillo then discussed the possibility that striker Ruben Castro could leave the club due to his wages.
“Rubén Castro is a very important player that we need to continue to support, because he’s a great goal scorer and the goals equal points.”
