Real Betis have issued an official statement, announcing that Argentine coach, Gabriel Calderón, won’t be at the helm as the team attempts to gain a swift return to the Primera, following their relegation this season.
The third manager tasked with the aim of trying to save Real Betis from relegation, in the end and despite his best efforts, Gabriel Calderón couldn’t achieve what had turned into a mission impossible.
On Monday, Real Betis officially announced that from 1st July, Calderón will no longer remain at the club in a working capacity and that the decisions had already been taken, before their final fixture this weekend.
“The manager held a meeting last week with the club president, Manuel Domínguez Platas and with the vice-president, Fernando Casas, to advise them of his decision to head in another direction.
In the current context, both the manager and the club have agreed that there needs to be a renovation of the sporting project, in order to achieve a return to the Primera in our coming campaign.
Real Betis would like to thank Gabriel Calderón and his coaching team, for all their work, enormous effort and involvement in trying to turn around such a delicate situation he arrived with four months ago, which unfortunately, hasn’t resulted in the club avoiding relegation.”
The club also announced that Gabriel Calderón will bid farewell to Real Betis, at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday 20th May, alongside club president Manuel Domínguez Platas.
