Real Betis look likely to lose Joan Verdú this summer, after suffering relegation from the Primera, which activates a release clause in his contract and has lead to a number of clubs monitoring his situation.
As Real Betis plan ahead for life in the Segunda next season, it looks increasingly likely that they’ll be doing so without Jordi Figueras and Joan Verdú, who according to alfinaldelapalmera.com, both have release clauses in their contracts, that leaves them free toexit the club upon relegation from the Primera.
It appears that there are already a host of clubs keen to move for Verdú, with wide reports in the Saudi Arabian press that clubs there are keen to move for the Catalan attacking midfielder.
During an interview Inside Spanish Football reporter Carlos García held with Verdú last December, he revealed that that before joining Betis, he’d received an attractive offer from Seattle Sounders of the MLS in the USA, plus he’d seriously considered a move to Olympiakos, whaving had extensive talks with them in Greece.
Although Verdú opted to stay in La Liga and embark upon what he hoped would be a promising season with Betis, including the opportunity to compete in the Europa League, the season has turned sour and the team remained at the bottom of the table for much of the season.
Additional reports suggest that Olympiakos may also return for the player, with their Spanish manager Míchel having won the Greek title this season, keen to bolster his squad ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.
