What remains to Real Betis ahead is hard, very hard. The regulations demand and has an obligation to show up to each and every one of the ten games remaining to finish the championship. The body craves the lights, padlocking and go home after the most disastrous course of recent history. But we must follow no other. With little time to take more accurate hit of recent times, professionals and fans flock to Benito Villamarín again. The mixture of euphoria and dizziness that was in the air during sunset last Thursday in Heliopolis has given way to a grim and menacing tune.

The slight improvement exhibited by the team since Calderon took over the locker room, and especially the possibility of eliminating the eternal rival in Europe, were anesthetized staff. Options remain in the First Division faded with the passage of the days but the air for blowing helped keep the door to achieving a heroic enterprise open. But the missed penalty Nono woke everyone in the cruelest way. The unstable house of cards which had become the Betis 2014 leaped into the air. The slap was responsible for returning people to the harsh reality, a day to weary day to the utmost, mired by lack of points and the perceived inability to win games. Are options to cut differences after several markers of the day. The comfort is not because they do not want.

With a team broken in the psychic and physically after squeeze over their chances in recent games, Betis meets the ballot to face his match against Atletico Madrid with as much dignity as possible. Calderón has long played a player and nine casualties confirmed after yesterday fell off the list by Salva Sevilla muscle problems. Expected changes in the starting line looking one not capable of drawing ridicule. One of the questions is to know hosting a tier that offered everything last Thursday. The scenario could not be more contrary to local interests. If someone is able to go out to a field and demand one hundred percent the opponent is the team coached by Simeone account output Heliopolis points to stay alive in his fight for the League.

The rivals Betis live intense hours. It is divided into the possible attention and concentration on two fronts, the League and Europe. He has not played well at all pairing Quarterfinal Champions League is against Barcelona. They understand that the ultimate beneficiary Manzanares in such circumstances is Real Madrid because the duel Europe mean heavy wear to Atletico and Barcelona that can be paid in the Spanish championship. Atletico do not want to get to Seville contemplations and willing to solve the match against Betis in the fast lane. For this meeting, Diego Pablo Simeone will have all their players available except Manquillo, injured, Tiago, low through suspension, and Giménez for technical decision itself.

Fight to the end, is the minimum required to Betis your hobby. Block Calderon has to cut nine points in ten games and you just need to fight every one of the 30 that remain in dispute to attempt the miraculous salvation. To do this, Betis have to blow up the embedded Thursday after being eliminated from the Europa League by rivals in the shootout.

One of the biggest concerns is how the Argentine coach said team affect your disposal. Calderón has focused these days to recover physically and morally theirs to focus its efforts on the single objective that remains this season. Permanence is almost a chimera and the opponent receiving this Sunday is not ideal to start the comeback, but diabetics have to at least maintain the dignity until the end.

Calderon will be missing for this match with one of his best men. Betis has decided not to pay the necessary Atletico clause to Leo Baptistão jugase match and the player has not been called. Jorge Molina Vadillo and take their place. It will not be the only change made Argentine coach, as the number of minutes they accumulate legs causes some players will be forced to make some more rotation.

Atletico, meanwhile, comes to realize that Heliopolis is facing a great opportunity to attack the leadership of the League. The fact that they face hours after the Madrid and Barcelona this match gives extra importance to block Diego Pablo Simeone. The Argentine coach will be without Tiago, sanctioned, nor Manquillo, injured. Yes they will return to the starting Miranda and Mario Suarez after serving a one match ban.

Re: Real Betis - Atletico Madrid

What I remember about the first meeting of the teams this season is that I had never been so sure before a game that Betis would lose. Sadly, I was right, too. Pepe Mel's boys (as they were then) held out for precisely 14 seconds and the following 90 minutes were just excruciating. Atleti could have scored as many times as they liked; the fact they settled for only five can only been out of kindness.

I wish I could be more optimistic today, but I'm afraid it's not easy. Betis might have improved considerably since the end of October, but any side would find it hard to bounce back from the physical and emotional efforts of Thursday night, and especially one of officially the top eight teams in Europe. Some of Gaby Calderón's key players - Alfred N'Diaye and Lolo Reyes, for example - could hardly put one foot in front of the other by the end of Thursday's game and it's surely asking too much for them to keep up with Atleti's impressively buzzy midfield for a full 90 minutes less than three days later.

In fact, there's a slight suggestion that Calderón might even rest players ahead of more winnable games to come - starting with this Thursday's visit to Levante. Leo Baptistao isn't even in the squad, partly because every game he plays on loan from today's opponents costs Betis money, while Salva Sevilla is also out with a thigh strain. The hamstring problem Damian Perquis picked up in the first half on Thursday will keep him on the sidelines for a month, and Nacho, Verdú and Chuli are still a little way from returning to action. So the Betis squad is: Adán, Sara, Chica, Juanfran, Jordi Figueras, Paulao, Amaya, Juan Carlos, Varela, Lolo Reyes, Matilla, N’Diaye, Nono, Cedrick, Vadillo, Rubén Castro, Jorge Molina, Braian Rodríguez. Personally I'd quite like to see the big forward Braian get some time on the pitch; I might be alone in this, but I still think he might turn out to be more useful than he's shown up till now.

Unfortunately, with Real Madrid and Barcelona playing each other later tonight, this also happens to be a key game for our title-chasing visitors, so we clearly can't expect any favours. And in fact, a good number of Béticos will be rooting for Atléti in the race for the championship; fans of the two clubs traditionally get on well, and the rojiblanco visiting supporters always do their best to ingratiate themselves by spending much of the 90 minutes singing anti-Sevilla songs. As you can imagine, those will go down particularly well today.

And really, that's what this afternoon's game is all about: showing that, despite all of the recent disappointments, the spirit of Real Betis Balompié is still burning bright. I don't think I've ever seen so many Betis shirts on the streets of Seville as I have over the past couple of days - especially on the backs of young kids - and whatever the scoreline at 7pm tonight, I'm sure the predominant attitude in the Benito Villamarín later will be one of pride and defiance. Manque pierda.

Real Betis 0-2 Atlético Madrid: Ten-man Betis collapse, as Atléti show no mercy

Real Betis and Atlético Madrid battled fiercely, but neither could break the deadlock. The dismissal of Braian Rodríguez for Betis in the 55th minute was just the advantage Atlético needed, as the visitors then punished their opponents within minutes, with two quick goals.

The game began at a hundred miles an hour, with both Betis and Atlético keen to find themselves an early advantage and much to play for, albeit for very different reasons and at opposite ends of the table.

Play swinging from end to end with the rhythm of a metronome, it was Betis wide-man Juanfran who had their first real opportunity in the 4th minute, but he couldn’t test Courtois with his wayward finish. As play switched quickly in the opposite direction, A cross from the Atlético right set up Raúl García to strike well, but his effort was taken wide by a deflection off a Betico body.

As Atlético began to take more control of the game, Filipe Luis served up the next opportunity in the 8th minute, but once more, Raúl García on the receiving end, couldn’t find the right finish.

After Atlético couldn’t make the most of their spell of dominance, Betis started balance the game out more, but weren’t able to make the most of their good intentions, in the final third of the pitch. In the 23rd minute however, as Atlético broke forward to win a corner, the visitors thought they had the lead. Diego Costa provided the finish as the ball was swung into the area, but the goal was ruled out for offside. A mistake by the linesman, as he was clearly in line with the last Betis defender.

Having rode their luck, Betis then suffered an unfortunate blow when Amaya had to retire from the game through injury. His replacement in the 26th minute was Nono. The home side then saw the next opportunity as Braian Rodríguez found a yard of space inside the Atlético area, but couldn’t edge Betis ahead and missed the target with his effort.

Past the half-hour mark and with neither side having been able to take a firm grip of the game, frustrations started to surface. The intensity and effort was still very much evident from both sets of players, but rash challenges and arguments were also threatening to make things boil over. The referee in constant communication with the players of both sides, calling for calm.

Atlético finished the half looking the stronger side and although they were able to win corners, they weren’t able to break the Betis defence from their set-pieces.

Out for the second half, still the signs were clear that it was going to be another end to end forty-five minutes. After an Atlético attack was broken down by tight defending from the Betis rearguard, the home side sprang forth on the counter in the 47th minute. Molina pinged his pass through the gap in the visiting defence, but Juan Carlos couldn’t quite make the desired contact, in what was a great opening.

Atlético had defending to do, but they remained robust and resolute, as Betis sought to pile on the pressure. Both sides were scrapping for every ball, every challenge and any way to get an edge. There was no let up in the intensity on display.

Life would be made all the more difficult for Betis however, when in the 55th minute, Braian Rodríguez collected his second yellow card. A poorly timed challenge and no doubts, whilst his side now had to battle for more than thirty minutes, with a man less.

That was just the advantage that Atlético needed and showing absolutely no mercy, they took the lead in the 57th minute. Gabi collecting the ball just outside the area and wasting no time at all, smashing a superb finish past Adán. They should have had a rapid second two moments later, as Diego Costa found himself in good space inside the Betis area, but chose to look for a pass, rather than the shot himself. Now ahead though, Simeone made his first move from the bench, introducing Diego Ribas for Raúl García in the 59th minute.

Atlético continued to pile on the pressure and when Koke slipped a lovely ball through to Diego Costa, he found himself completely free and with just Adán to beat in the 63rd minute, fired in the second for the visitors.

More movements from the bench, as Atlético sent on David Villa for Arda Turan. That was followed in the 69th minute with a change for an utterly demoralised looking Betis, as Cedrick replaced Juan Carlos.

Betis were forced to keep defending, against an Atlético side in complete control, looking for a third goal, but despite there advances, there was no real urgency now from the visitors, more patient with their play. Matilla replaced Lolo Reyes for the home side in the 74th minute, as Calderón made his final change for the home side.

David Villa couldn’t make the most of a good opportunity, as he received the ball inside the area in the 80th minute, but lost control and a chance of the Atlético third. That was soon followed by the final change from the bench in the 82nd minute, as Simeone replaced Koke with José Sosa.

Trying to restore some pride, Molina had a chance for Betis in the 84th minute, but his finish was woefully weak and easy for Courtois to claim. There was no longer any sting left in the game as the game headed into stoppage time and as the final whistle blew, more dismay for the suffering Betis fans at the Benito Villamarín, whilst Atlético Madrid temporarily sent themselves top of La Liga, ahead of El Clásico.

Re: Real Betis - Atletico Madrid

You know, I really try to not to be what they call here a "conspiranoico" and accuse referees of having it in for us as a matter of course, but there really is something different when Betis face the two big Madrid teams and Barcelona. For these games, you just have to accept that there are double standards in play - one rule for them, another for us. How else can you explain Braian Rodríguez picking up a second yellow card for a handball (that might well have been accidental), when minutes later an Atleti player committed exactly the same offence and was punished with a free-kick but no booking? And why can Diego Costa get away with the game's most malicious foul play - nudging Paulao into the advertising hoardings, which could have resulted in a serious injury - without so much as stern word? By the end, the Béticos had even given up calling the referee a "******" and were just laughing.

It's a shame, because until Braian was sent off, after 57 minutes, the match had been encouragingly tight. Betis made Atleti work for their few chances, even after Amaya had became the fourth first-half substitution in the last three games, and had at least one great opportunity themselves when Juan Carlos beat Courtois but saw his shot hit the outside of the post. The new partnership upfront of Braian and Molina - presumably to give Rubén a rest - wasn't exactly striking fear into the hearts of the Atlético centre-backs, but at least it seemed like Betis were giving as good as they got. But within seconds of us going down to 10 men the visitors had scored with a long-range shot and everyone in the stadium new it was pretty much all over. Then that nice Mr Costa doubled the lead with a messy goal soon afterwards and that really was curtains. The last 25 minutes was just tedious.

The plus points? Nono came on to a warm reception, which should help heal any psychological wounds, and the crowd never lost patience with the team, who they obviously felt were hard done-by, but the point that looked likely for more than half the game would definitely have been useful. Oh well; on to Levante on Thursday.

Betis: Adán; Amaya (Nono, m. 26), Paulao, Jordi, Chica; Juanfran, Lolo Reyes (Matilla, m. 74), Ndiaye, Juan Carlos (Cedrick, m. 69); Braian Rodríguez y Jorge Molina.

                Goals: 0-1, m. 57: Gabi. 0-2, m. 63: Diego Costa.

Calderon: "Fate is cruel to us"

The coach of Real Betis , Gabriel Humberto Calderón , said just after the home opener against Atletico Madrid that "today's game had two very different parts. We have our chance and did not take advantage after the expulsion complicated everything. He began to feel the fatigue of the 120 minutes Thursday and Atletico Madrid took advantage. "

In view of the referee's match, Estrada Fernández , he was taking controversial decisions, you will be asked to Calderón for having removed the possibility to Braian Rodriguez at halftime after watching the first few minutes in yellow. "I did not think to do so," said Calderon, who has spent time in complaining about the performance of the referee. According to Calderon, "the action of the second yellow card Braian is casual and you can check to see movement Braian career. But the problem is on the first card. On television it is found that Atletico Madrid makes films and strip. " Calderón continued to tumble the arbitration issue, commenting that "the feeling that I have is that we do not respect referees . You are unsettling to actions one after another. There are Diego Costa scored a legal but it was coming from a gift Attacking Atletico. I feel a lack of consideration for the Betis-based things that happen one after another. We are in the position we are on merit but what we think. A Molina have taught him a yellow card and Diego Costa pulled by almost Paulao moat has not done anything. "

Referees aside, Calderon has recognized the work of his men in the match against Atletico and considering the hard stick received last Thursday. "We have to go out and win every game like we did today. The difference was not seen until they had an extra man. We need to play every game like a final. Fate still cruel to us . " Asked by proper names, Calderon justified the substitution of Ruben Castro in the afternoon because "came to play 120 minutes maximum freshness needed today and so I put the two front".

Finally, Calderon claimed not to have "missed Leo Baptistão. We deserved to get ahead on the scoreboard. Every game we play we are showing a good level. To have a chance to win you have to play like today or on Thursday. "

Estrada Fernández (Catalan Committee). He showed yellow card to Jorge Molina, Matilla, Filipe Luis, Diego and twice Braian Rodriguez, ejected in the 55th minute.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of the former Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez

                    31313 spectators at Benito Villamarín.

Real Betis has fallen many zero two against Atletico Madrid in for Week 29 match at the Benito Villamarín meeting. After enduring conditions in the first half, the game was ruined in ten minutes of madness. Betis Juan Carlos sent a ball to the post, Braian Rodriguez went to the street after hitting the ball with the hand and a second yellow and Gabi made the same breath zero to one with a shot from distance. Atletico Madrid had left the field with the handbrake on and Betis took advantage to make ugly duel Simeone. But Betis today is unable to have luck on their side and missed the opportunity to get a little closer to the area of salvation. The crowd, which applauded resigned theirs eventually left thinking it is one day earlier to end the ordeal of the season.

The stand made the decision to start clothing Betis. Verdiblancos the slumping players, inability to attract soccer match tried to apply some competitive tension in the opening minutes. With two tall men in attack and Jorge Molina and Braian Rodríguez Calderón's team tried to find the direct path. Argentina coach announced on the eve several new and four were changes in the lineup compared to Thursday's game. The problem is that the Betis today goes to at least match injury. After 25 minutes it fell to the side right now Amaya. He went instead to the much acclaimed Nono stood in front of Juanfran on the right side. Atletico Madrid, while, for himself, that is, to let the minutes until the quality make an appearance. No need to try to Betis goalkeeper Adam, the sense of danger was when Atletico reached the area of three quarters of attack but does not fire into the net is impossible score. The minutes passed and Betis remained in the game. In addition, the fights between tier Estrada Fernández and Diego Costa consisting mess with the game tangled Paulao for Betis interests. Atletico Madrid was not at all comfortable and went to the locker room without trying to Betis goalkeeper Adam.

The thing could get even better for the Betis at the start of the second half. Juan Carlos, one of the best in the team Betis, sent the ball to the post after pulling a good diagonal from left to right in the area of Atletico. But Betis today is a machine to generate bad news. In ten minutes changed the landscape dramatically. He went from one to zero as possible in launching Juan Carlos zero to one thanks to the success of Gabi from afar. By expelling Braian left Rodriguez with a yellow card in tow touched the ball with his hand and left his team with ten. Diego Costa went to his appointment with the goal. The Atletico had since November unmarked away and given that Betis is that it gives his slump settlement here. With 30 minutes before the match ended in Heliopolis.

The results of the day said that if Betis was able to earn six points would be placed in the area of salvation. For three quarters of an hour he came to value the option but the Betis team has a tremendous capacity for calling to self-destruction. The many fans parading way home twenty minutes before the end sought for comfort reasons. It is less for the League is over ...

Umpteenth defeat of Betis in this disastrous season for Betis, we more or less excuses for this stupid face but we are left with is the same forever. It started well planted Betis that left the Athletic came easily to verdiblanca area. Ugly game Calderón posed with news of Brian and Molina at the tip of a direct attack to Juankar game and as far left to put balls.
Soon the game started to be difficult, Betis injury that will match and in 25 it fell to Amaya which was replaced by a standing ovation Nono Juanfran delaying the side.
The referee began to undermine the ability of the Betis faltitas based decisions and always in favor of Madrid. Costa, the player who has fought many of the Spanish defenses, trying to rile up the base defenses shoving the referee ignored to avoid expulsion. And Betis keeping all these kind of orderly fashion and with some self-respect. End of the first half with both locals handbrake and Betis putting his attitude to lack of fitness.
The start of the second half was promising for Betis, Molina ball through that Juankar crossed with poor was invented encontar luck with the stick. And any change, Brian had received a great time for the whole game, touched the ball with his hand and the referee was crazy by starring decided it was yellow, the second for the Uruguayan.
